Entrance examinations for the Doctoral Program are generally held in late August each year. Depending on the enrollment status, additional examinations may be conducted in November or January.
If you reside overseas, please contact your prospective advisor first via email to obtain preliminary approval for your application.
The application deadline is usually about five weeks prior to the entrance examination date; however, for additional examinations, the deadline may be shorter.
Please note that a preliminary review may be required in some cases, and this process can take time. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you begin preparations well in advance.
Applicants will be evaluated comprehensively based on an oral examination (the content and format may vary slightly depending on the program) and a review of submitted documents.

Admissions for the Doctoral Second Stage Program (Doctoral Program) – Science and Technology Major
To provide a seamless continuation from the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Bioscience and Bioindustry, the Graduate School of Science and Technology was newly established by restructuring and integrating the former Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Advanced Technology and Science at the Josanjima Campus.
By reforming the conventional department-based education system, this graduate school goes beyond merely deepening expertise in specific fields. It also aims to equip students with the ability to address global and regional challenges, such as globalization, energy issues, depopulation, aging societies, and mental health.
Through this approach, the program fosters interdisciplinary professionals who can create new value across science, technology, industry, and society.
