Why Pursue Graduate Studies at Tokushima University?

There are three key reasons why I decided to pursue further studies. First, to deepen my knowledge. Tokushima University is home to numerous experts in various fields, and the opportunity to receive guidance from such esteemed faculty is invaluable. Second, the university offers robust support programs. The availability of extensive support systems, such as the Uzushio Project, makes Tokushima University an attractive option for doctoral students. Lastly, the university’s strong ties with the local community are a significant advantage. Tokushima University’s involvement in initiatives like the COC+R Project  (Centers of Community Project for Universities as Drivers of Regional Revitalization through New Human Resources Education Programs) and the Regional Human Resource Bank exemplifies its strong connection with the region, which can also be leveraged in research endeavors.

Research and Career: Shaping My Future

I am conducting research to detect insect feeding damage on lotus root fields using image processing techniques. This research is closely tied to the community, aiming to address the local issue of pest damage to lotus crops. Through this work, I have recognized the importance of applying technology to other fields and solving regional challenges. Looking ahead, I am eager to pursue a career in research and development that combines my expertise in image processing and machine learning with other disciplines.
