Why Pursue Graduate Studies at Tokushima University?

I have always been passionate about doing research in mechanical engineering, and pursuing my PhD at Tokushima University is a dream come true. I was drawn to the university because a professor I greatly admire in my field is working here, and the institution has produced many outstanding engineers, including a Nobel laureate. The opportunity to collaborate with brilliant professors and connect with experts in this field is something I couldn’t pass up. The university’s emphasis on practical applications will also prepares me well for my future career. Plus, the relaxed atmosphere of a medium-sized town makes it the perfect place to live and study.

Research and Career: Shaping My Future

My research focuses on developing high-accuracy pneumatic positioning control systems, which is crucial in the future of precision industries. I work to refine the control algorithms and innovate the control methods by using control theories to enhance system performance. At this university, I have the opportunity to learn about and utilize high-tech development software and tools which are similar to those used in industries. This hands-on experience not only enhances my technical skills but also gives me the leverage to lay a foundation for my career in the future. In the future, I envision myself continuing to do what I like, which is research and development in a technology company where I can contribute to Japan, my home country,  Malaysia, and even on a global scale.

Chance to challenge yourself,
contribute to breakthrough technologies,
and build a future that inspires.
A Message for Future Graduate Students

Pursuing a PhD is a big challenge for anyone, and getting support from your professors and access to the right tools is really important. To me personally, choosing a high-ranking university is not a priority; but having a great professor who is willing to guide you along your way and a university equipped with cutting-edge resources are the most important factors. At Tokushima University, the focus is on practical development, and the community is incredibly supportive. You’ll find a nurturing environment where people are genuinely invested in your success, fostering collaboration and growth. This is more than an academic journey — it’s a chance to challenge yourself, contribute to breakthrough technologies, and build a future that inspires.

For a future where someone values my contributions.
